Reborn To Be A Hero

Yesterday, I got invited to another event, the Born To Be A Hero Blogger’s Night. Ian and I went with Ana of The Fashionista Commuter (thanks for inviting us Anabanana!). I came from work and since the venue of the event was in Makati too and it’s kind of near my building, we just decided to walk. It was so funny because Ana and I kept on texting and it was weird for we are contacts on BBM, I couldn’t get why I can’t just ping her for I don’t load credits for regular SMS. Haha!
With a bit of perspiration, we were able to find the place! And we were the early birds so we got some sort of a prize. Yay! Thank you Co.Lab!
It was a different experience for me. Something fresh, something new. Since I am just new to going to events, and the ones that I get to attend are the girly type, parties and the like, the Blogger’s Night event was exciting for me.
The Francis Magalona Foundation (headed by the Magalonas and was founded for the late master rapper Francis Magalona) together with The One Core (an organization which aims to teach people real-life lessons) has joined forces in pushing through the advocacies they share.
Pia Magalona and Maxene Magalona were there to give a brief introduction about the foundation. But it was not all about serious talk! It was fun because the event was very intimate so they really got to talk to us and we were also able to listen all ears. Maxene was so funny! I never thought she was just like any normal individual, just like me, just like you, just like us! And when they shared about Francis Magalona, I can’t help but get a little teary-eyed because really, well we all know how much he has contributed to our country. He did not only used his talent in music to share what he feel but through his different involvements too. In every activity that he did, there has always been a mark of nationalism, him being a Filipino, that is. And the way he has fought his illness was really extraordinary, it was so ideal that in the world that we live in right now, you won’t even ever think that that would still be possible.
Along with this, Born To Be A Hero was also intoduced. Written by Coach Pia Nazareno-Acevedo, it is a self-help and a very interactive book which will help you reflect on things that you encounter everyday but don’t realize whether it helps or not, good or bad. It is simple, very reader-friendly and very inspiring.
Coach Pia also shared her life experiences, her thoughts which I found very amazing because they are all very “surfaced”, straight to the point and aren’t really complicated. When you hear her say them you just can’t help but nod because these are things that we get to live by everyday of our lives, I mean we know that they are the right things to do but there’s something that’s holding us from doing them and that is what she wants us to identify as we go through the pages of the book.
I am not yet done reading but I am very excited because I know that it can help me improve how I think about myself, about others, how I see everything that surrounds me and how I make decisions. I really encourage you to read this especially when you are at that point in your life where you are not certain with what you should do, with what you think and whom you should be with. It would really be very helpful upon getting there.
I felt like I had gone back to school! It was fun, really! And I also felt like Ian and I were classmates once again, and Coach Pia was our professor! It was like one of my major classes back in college, Psychology! I could relate to it so much! (I am a graduate of Psychology and gosh I miss school so bad) Hahaha! Plus, Anabanana and I got to bond with each other! As in really bond! We were able to talk about a lot of things, our friends, our stuff. We were also able to meet a different set of bloggers and it was a new experience for me!
Chris, Ana, and me
Coach Pia also signed our copies of the book! Thank you for that!
Thank you for our FMCC shirts too!
And here’s our class picture!
Ahhh! Thank you so much to the Francis Magalona Foundation and to The One Core for letting us hear the wonderful talk! It was really amazing! I don’t know but I felt so energized and maybe that’s the reason why I am able to write this early and fast, and I also felt like there’s good vibrations around me! Haha!
If you wanna know and experience what I am talking about, you better get the book! :p
